Frequently asked questions by dog owners:

Q: Does my dog need to be vaccinated/microchipped?

A: Yes. Your dog is likely to come into contact with a large number of other dogs, and it is best practice to have dogs vaccinated (including kennel cough) to prevent spread of any potential contagions. Your dog will also need to be microchipped as It is the law that if your dog is walked in a public space, that they must be microchipped and have a dog tag with your details on.

Q: What happens if my dog gets muddy when out walking?

A: I will endeavour to clean your dog off as much as possible, and will dry them off with a towel. If you have any specific requirements then please do let me know.

Q: What if my dog is aggressive?

A: Unfortunately I do not offer my services for aggressive animals, and advise you seek a trainer to rectify any behavoural problems beforehand.

Q: Can you walk my dog if it is unwell?

A: If your dog becomes unwell, I will still be able to walk your dog carefully on an individual basis until they are better, leaving 2 days after symptoms have disappeared, or 2 weeks after for kennel cough. This is to ensure that any illness that they have is not passed on to other dogs. I will ensure that they are monitored closely and that they are only walked at their own pace until they are feeling better.

Q: Can you walk my female dog if she is in season, or male dog if they have not been neutered?

A: Yes, though female dogs in heat will be restricted to individual walks, and they would need to remain on the lead so that I can ensure control of the situation. For male dogs, they will be kept on lead when near other unknown dogs, and all behaviour will be monitored. You will be kept informed of any undesired behaviours.

Q: What if my dog gets injured?

A: Even with the best supervision, sometimes dogs can become injured when playing with other dogs or charging around. In the event of serious injury, you will be contacted straight away, and they will be taken to your preferred vet in the first instance, or another vet if that is not possible.

Q: Will you get to meet us and my dog before their first walk?

A: I always meet my customers before their first booking to get to know your specific dog and your requirements. During this time I will take down important information, such as your emergency contact details and preffered vet. This visit is complimentary and non-commital, and is an opportune time to ask any questions you may have.

Q: Can we give you a key to the property so that no one needs to be home when my dog is walked?

A: Yes, I have a number of keys for different properties, and in the unlikely event of lost keys, I do have insurance to cover any associated key replacements or lock changes.
